2017 North Coast Brut Cuvee Sparkling Wine

This is a complex and elegantly structured sparkling wine with a nose of toasted almond, Meyer lemon peel, yeasty brioche, and green apple. On the palate, a profound richness is tempered by mouthwatering acidity that supports unctuous flavors of white peach and tangerine along with lingering caramel-toffee notes on the uncompromisingly dry finish.
Inspired by the great grower Champagnes, this wine is made in the traditional méthode champenoise entirely in-house at Patz & Hall from grape pressing, tirage bottling, aging, riddling, and disgorging. Using fruit from three excellent vineyards, it combines 53% Clone #76 Chardonnay from the acclaimed Gap’s Crown Vineyard, 32% Chardonnay from the oldest vines at Dutton Ranch-Mill Station Vineyard (planted in the late 1970’s), and 15% from Green Valley Vineyard owned by the Sanchietti family. All three sites are in extremely cool locations, producing classic sparkling wine chemistry of very low pH and high acid. The 2017 vintage produced superb fruit for this world-class sparkling wine.
