While the appeal of Chardonnay transcends any particular season, there is something about spring and summer that brings out an extra layer of delicious flavor in a great Chardonnay. As the weather beckons us outdoors and our food choices become lighter and livelier, the nuances of Chardonnay seem to come more clearly into focus. At Patz & Hall, capturing the distinctive nuances of region, vineyard and vintage are at the heart of our single-vineyard bottlings. For our current spring releases, we are excited to be offering four exceptional Chardonnays (and an amazing Pinot Noir). Though these wines received very similar handling in the winery, they are each as individual as the vineyards they come from. Our spring releases include:
As we prepare to receive the bounty of 2007, several of our most anticipated 2005 and 2006 releases are ready to leave the nest. These include:
From the coveted Emerald Pool block (located at an elevation of 2,600 feet) of Alder Springs Vineyard to the heirloom clone plantings of Dutton Ranch and the grand cru Carneros winegrowing sites of Hyde and Hudson vineyards, these wines are made from some of the very best Chardonnay grapes in the world. And while the term terroir is used very casually these days, as you enjoy these four Chardonnays, we invite you to compare their personalities. When you do, we think you'll find that they each quite clearly express a unique and appealing sense of place.
These wines are made in very limited quantities and are sure to go quickly. To ensure that you receive all the wines that you want, we suggest placing your order soon. If you would like to taste these wines before you purchase, why not plan a visit to our Patz & Hall Tasting Salon for one of our seated, private tastings. We hope to see you there!
Cheers,
Donald Patz
