Spring Release Announcement
Let me begin by sending you warm greetings from all of us here at Patz & Hall. Over the past few months, I have had the pleasure of phoning all of our wonderful Salon Society club members, and writing personal notes of thanks to many of our oldest customers. While some of the people I called were a little surprised to hear from me, people also seemed pleased and excited to chat about wine for a few minutes with one of the partners of a winery they support. For me, it was deeply satisfying as people shared their stories about opening our wines for special occasions, or just at the end of a good (or sometimes bad) day. It was a reminder of the life these wines take on after they leave our winery and enter your homes.
Knowing this, I am all the more pleased to announce our wonderful lineup of spring 2010 releases, which includes the premier 2008 vintage of our exceptional Sonoma Coast Chardonnay:
2008 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay
2008 Hudson Vineyard – Carneros Chardonnay
2008 Zio Tony Ranch – Russian River Valley Chardonnay
2008 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
2008 Jenkins Ranch – Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
2008 Burnside Vineyard – Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
2007 Pisoni Vineyard – Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir
As some of you already know, the 2008 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay will be replacing the Napa Valley Chardonnay in our portfolio. While Napa Valley is a phenomenal grape growing area, over the years it has become obvious to us (with a few notable exceptions) that the Sonoma Coast is where the best Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes are coming from. And while it is sad to say goodbye to a wine we have made for 20 years, all of us at Patz & Hall are thrilled by this new Chardonnay. Crafted using fruit from a who’s who of the best Sonoma Coast vineyards, it’s a stunning wine that sets a new standard for our cuvée program. It is also a beautiful reflection of the style we love. For me, that style is well represented in these releases, which are energetic, exciting and bright, with refreshing acidity, but also power and richness.
When I think about the year ahead, I am excited that I will be sharing these wines with many of you at special tastings around the country, in the Salon, and even in some of your homes. Whether you are experiencing our wines for the 21st vintage, or for the very first time, we are grateful for your interest and your support.
Very best wishes,
